Father Of Teen Arrested With AK-47 In Subway Killed In Shootout With Police

The father of the Ohio teen arrested in the Time Square subway station with an AK-47 and loaded magazine was killed last month in a shootout with police.

Saadiq Teague, 18, was charging his phone when patrolling officers noticed the weapon. He was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia. It is unclear what Teague planned to do with the weapon. He was also found with ammunition and a gas mask.

Teague’s father, Andrew, 43, was shot by Ohio police officers last month after he opened fire on them while fleeing. Officers returned the gunfire, and he was shot dead.

The elder Teague had a warrant out for his arrest for felonious assault stemming from an incident in February.

Police have not yet said why Saadiq had the gun or what he planned to do with it. He remains in custody in New York City, and the FBI is now investigating.
