A 16-year-old Ohio girl was shot and killed when her father mistook her for an intruder breaking into the family home.
Columbus Police said they were dispatched to a home around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 29 after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found 16-year-old Janae Hairston shot. Authorities rushed the teen to a local hospital but she died shortly thereafter.
In the frantic 911 call, the teen’s mother explains that the girl was in the garage when she was shot by her father. The father could be heard in the 8-minute call asking what Janae was doing in the garage and begging for her to wake up.
