The FBI has announced the results of its investigation into the noose found in Bubba Wallace’s garage stall at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. According to TMZ, the FBI has determined “no crime was committed.”
Apparently, the noose had been there since 2019, and according to NASCAR, it was just a “garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose.”
“Bubba Wallace was not the target of a hate crime,” the organization added, as the FBI released its own statement to explain the unfortunate situation.
“On Monday, fifteen FBI special agents conducted numerous interviews regarding the situation at Talladega Superspeedway. After a thorough review of the facts and evidence surrounding this event, we have concluded no federal crime was committed.”
Though the noose was mysteriously found in Wallace’s #4 garage, the FBI said the driver was assigned to the garage last week, and because of that, no one could have known to put the noose there to purposely offend Wallace.
“Although the noose is now known to have been in Garage #4 in 2019, nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned to Garage #4 last week.”
“We offer our thanks to Nascar, Mr. Wallace and everyone who cooperated with this investigation,” the FBI said, after explaining its decision to not pursue charges.
