A federal appeals court put a temporary hold on a judge’s previous order that blocked Texas’ six-week abortion ban.
According to CNN, the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals quickly granted Texas’ request for an administrative stay of US District Judge Robert Pitman’s order. The state’s move came days after Judge Pitman issued a sweeping order blocking the law at the request of the US Justice Department, which legally challenged it last month.
The legal battle over Pitman’s order could ultimately end before the Supreme Court, which previously rejected an earlier request from abortion clinics to block the law.
