In the past few years, hip-hop has ushered in a new wave of phenomenal women who have taken the genre by storm. With names such as Nicki Minaj, Rico Love, Chika, Megan Thee Stallion, and Cardi B breaking down barriers for Black women in rap, more ladies have stepped out of their comfort zones and picked up the microphone than ever before.
Let’s take a peek at some of the women who got next in the rap game.
Young Devyn
This 19-year-old Brooklyn-bred MC delivers gritty New York bars that’ll stop anyone in their tracks. Newly signed to 4th & Broadway, the label relaunched by Island Records, @Youngdevyn recently released her highly anticipated EP, “Baby Goat,” and proves why she is precisely that.

Bossed Up Barbie
@Bossedup_barbiee is using her diversity to establish herself as the South’s next great female act. Her breakout single, “Got Me F***** Up,” showcased her spicy bars and Florida swag, but it was her 2020 r&b single, “Blame On Me,” that put this star on the map. A master at blending sultry vocals with catchy rhymes, this Def Jam signee has proven that she is not one to be toyed with.
Kali
When @Kaliii released her hit record, “Do a B*tch,” this year, she took the internet by storm. The record quickly ballooned to over 12 million Spotify streams and earned a remix from the icon Rico Nasty herself. This is an incredible feat for the independent Georgia musician who credits Aaliyah and Nicki Minaj as her inspirations. Her debut EP, “This Why They Mad Now,” has attracted millions of streams and solidified this beauty as rap’s next it-girl.
Omeretta
Regarded as one of hip-hop’s most gorgeous women, @Omeretta has proven for years that she transcends far beyond a pretty face. Her freestyles have taken social media by storm for years, and now, this flawless rhymer is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Recently announced as the newest cast member of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, Omeretta is gearing up to show the rap game what it’s been missing.
Enchanting
When it came to her now-famous verse on “No Luv,” alongside her 1017 labelmates, @Luvenchanting understood the assignment. Hip-hop was instantly drawn to this tatted-up raptress whose raspy cadence enchanted all that heard her. Though she was a standout on the track, Enchanting was dropping music for a few years before signing with Gucci Mane. The visual for her latest single, “Freaky Deaky,” featuring newcomer Coi Leray has attracted nearly 300k views on Youtube.
Asian Doll
@Asiandabrat is no rookie despite many viewing her as such. She signed to Gucci Mane in 2018, though it was short-lived. Just two years later, Asian Doll announced that she was an independent artist. The news left many counting her out, believing that her career was over before it had really begun. However, the 24-year-old has persevered through personal tragedy and career ups and downs to become one of today’s most notable names in female rap, finally getting the credit she deserves. With the release of her wildly popular single, “Nunnadatsh*t,” and employing Stacia Mac as her new manager, Asian Doll has found her way back to the top.
Lakeyah
Signed to Atlanta’s biggest label, Quality Control Music, @Lakeyah is finding her way on everyone’s hottest rap list. The 2021 XXL Freshman has a treasure trove full of music, but her records “BigFlexHer” featuring 42 Dugg and “Female Goat” alongside fellow QC artists, City Girls, have placed a spotlight on the 20-year-old rapper. Videos for both singles have attracted millions of YouTube views, signaling that she may be the next rap giant to emerge from QC.
