Fireball Whisky has just announced one of its most odd creations: Crierball, a special whisky blend that claims to contain real tears from football fans of losing teams. It’s a limited-edition bottle designed to capture the spirit (and saltiness) of rivalry season. Yes, Fireball is actually setting up “Tear Collection Stations” at major rivalry games, where disappointed fans can let their tears roll—straight into the production of this one-of-a-kind whisky.
According to Danny Suich, Global Brand Director for Fireball, the idea is all about celebrating the intense emotions that fuel football rivalries. “Few things compare to the feeling of a hard-fought win—or a tough loss. We wanted to create something that bottles that raw emotion, so fans can toast to their victories (or drink away the losses) in the true spirit of rivalry.”
How the “Tears” Are Collected
Throughout November, Fireball is bringing its Tear Collection Stations to some of the most heated rivalry games in the country, including the Auburn vs. Alabama showdown and the Ohio State vs. Michigan clash. After each game, Fireball staff in bright red “Fireball Tear Collector” gear will be stationed outside stadiums to gather drops from those coping with their team’s loss.
Where to Find Fireball’s Tear Collection Stations:
- Nov 10: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys, Dallas, TX
- Nov 17: Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears, Chicago, IL
- Nov 17: Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh, PA
- Nov 30: Auburn Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide, Tuscaloosa, AL
- Nov 30: Michigan Wolverines vs. Ohio State Buckeyes, Columbus, OH
The collected tears will reportedly undergo a thorough sterilization and distillation process before they’re added to Crierball, which Fireball expects to release next season. The brand’s fans can look forward to a bottle that’s as much a conversation piece as it is a drink, with each sip intended to honor the highs and lows of game day.
