For sneakerheads, the prices some of the popular and rare deadstock kicks command will come as no surprise. For some, the prices may be downright shocking. But the number of people willing to pay an outrageous price for a limited-edition pair of kicks is on the rise.
And the sneaker resale industry has ballooned into a billion-dollar industry, expected to top $30 billion by the year 2030.
We took a look at some of the most coveted kicks on the resale market and put together a list of five costly pairs of sneakers on reseller site StockX right now. They range anywhere from $6,000 all the way to $50,000.

Nike MAG “Back to the Future”
Released in 2016, the value of this self-lacing shoe has steadily risen over the last few years. The shoe was initially limited to only 89 pairs, available through an online draw. Sales of the extremely limited show are now averaging about $50,000.
Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Red October”
Released on February 9, 2014, the sneakers retailed for $250. They are now selling for much more than that at around $10,000. A size 8 sold in August for more than $15,000.
Nike SB Dunk Low “Paris”
Initially released in March of 2002, a pair last sold in size 12 in August for $37,800. The shoe previously topped $50,000 last year for a size 11.
Air Jordan 1 High OG “Chicago”
The Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago” was released in 1985 for just $65. Now, they are listed for $34,000 for a size 9. A size 9.5 sold last month for a whopping $20,000.
Dior x Air Jordan 1 High
Released in April of 2020 for $2,000, the collaboration between Jordan Brand and Dior has hit the resale market for much higher. Low end, they will run you about $6,000. Other pairs have sold for about $12,000.
