Flau’Jae Johnson is sharing her thoughts on the career of Caitlin Clark and the immense criticism she has faced since going pro.

The LSU star joined Streetz Morning Takeover, where she spoke on how the Indiana Fever star is being sideeyed by basketball fans who don’t believe she is playing at the level she was in college. However, Johnson thinks Clark is simply experiencing growing pains as she transitions into the WNBA.

“It take time and I know she had a lot of hype behind her because of who she is and what she’s done to the game. But the WNBA is a different level, and you gotta learn how to compete at that level,” Johnson explained.

Clark entered the WNBA draft as one of the top prospects following a stunning college career. She led Iowa to the national championship game, but like Johnson, many have speculated that she is still adapting. The Fever had played eleven games in just the first 20 days of the season. Though it’s evident that Johnson’s sit-down took place before Clark’s devastating loss on Sunday against the New York Liberty, which saw Clark scoring just three points, she acknowledged that what is considered a bad game for Clark would be regarded as a good game for other players.

“You gotta think how fast college girls go to the league…You don’t have time to get acclimated to the pace or none of that…they throw you in there,” she added.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Clark was averaging 17 points per game, which is still an impressive feat for professional players.
