A Southwest Airlines flight attendant’s back is broken after a hard plane landing.
The impact of a flight landing was so hard that a flight attendant suffered a compression fracture to her vertebrae. The incident happened last month on a flight landing in Santa Ana, California.
The landing was so rough the stewardess thought the aircraft had crashed. NBC News reports that there are no confirmed details on why the landing was hard following an investigation. However, pilots told investigators that they were landing as they normally would on the runway.
The plane made several trips that day, and the pilots landed on a smaller runway.
“It ended up being a firm landing,” said the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Friday in a report. At the time the attendant was injured, she was reportedly in a jump seat located at the back of the plane, NBC News reports.
