A city in Florida has lifted a boil water notice after E. coli was previously found in two separate samples of drinking water.
On September 12, Cape Coral city officials issued a boil water notice after waters tested positive for E. Coli during a routine random sampling, NBC 2 reports.
The boil water notice lasted for about a day, during which city officials suggested boiling water for one minute to kill any bacteria. However, the city has now been cleared by the Health Department to rescind the notice.
“The City-wide boil water notice was done out of an abundance of caution because Cape Coral follows very strict federal and state laws on monitoring water contaminants. Repeat samples confirm Cape Coral city water is not contaminated; no further precautions are needed,” said the department.
