A Florida man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing the mother of his child in the eyes and throwing his 1-year-old daughter out of the window of their home on Saturday morning.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the little girl was found facedown and unresponsive on the front lawn. Both mother and child are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman is not expected to be able to see again.
Pierre Gabriel Francois, 29, has been charged with three counts of felony attempted murder and one charge of aggravated assault.
Francois’ third victim in the attack was his own mother and was the first to be attacked after waking up to her son punching the walls. She asked him to stop, and he began beating her with a two-by-four and then stabbed his girlfriend. Then, he threw his daughter through a window.
“At this time, that is part of the investigation, and detectives are working on determining how the infant ended up outside,” Sergeant Don Prichard said. “What we do know is that the infant was found in the front yard lying face down by deputies arriving on the scene.”
Francois’ mother said that he is schizophrenic and could have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
Broward Circuit Judge Daniel Kahner set Francois’ bail at $550,000. He remains in the Broward County Jail and is pending a court-ordered mental health evaluation.
