Florida Man Arrested for Stealing Used Frying Oil From Local Restaurants

On Thursday, a man from Miami was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools.

According to Stuart policeWestcott Clowdus, 54, has been accused of stealing used fryer oil from local restaurants in Stuart and Martin County for the past several months.

Police claim Clowdus would steal fryer oil from closed restaurants in the early morning hours under the pretense of a legitimate business.

According to authorities, Clowdus would then transfer the oil to a recycling business in South Florida and be compensated for it.

Clowdus was eventually transported to Martin County jail, and his truck was seized.

  1. He was arrested in Miami, FL in September of 2014 for the same crime(s).

  2. The September 2014 case was by Miami-Dade Police Department. They also have another case on him from December 2013.
