A Florida resident was taken into custody for reportedly hitting a woman in the face with a slice of pizza during a dispute.
According to an arrest affidavit from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were dispatched to a home in response to a 911 hang-up call regarding a potential domestic disturbance. The affidavit stated Ortelio Lazaro Alfonso informed the deputies that he had engaged in a dispute with the female victim during the conversation.
Once officials arrived, the woman told them Alfonso became upset with her after she disciplined someone in the home. This prompted Alfonso to slap the left side of her face with a pizza slice. However, Alfonso says he threw the slice at the woman and it hit her in the face.
“The defendant advised he did not physically strike the victim with his hands, just with the pizza,” the affidavit read.
In addition, deputies found pizza stains on the front, collar, and backside of the woman’s shirt. They also claim “remnants of pizza” was found in the woman’s hair and around her ears. Additionally, pizza sauce was also seen on the walls and the kitchen ceiling once deputies entered the home.
Nevertheless, Alfonso was arrested and charged with battery. He was later released based on his own recognition.
