Lauderhill, FL, authorities reported that a 36-year-old mother was arrested in connection with the murders of her two young daughters.
On June 22, Destiny Hogan, 9, and Daysha Hogan, 7, were discovered floating in a Lauderhill canal.
Yesterday around 9:30 p.m., their mother, Tinessa Hogan, was arrested on two counts of first-degree murder.
Police in Lauderhill could not confirm what evidence they had against the mother involved in the girls’ deaths.
According to authorities, the oldest child, Destiny, was initially discovered on the afternoon of June 22 near the intersection of Northwest 21st Street and 56th Avenue. Later that evening, Daysha was discovered about a half-mile distance in the same canal.
A Witness told Local 10 News that Destiny had marks on her body.
“The way how the little girl looked yesterday with all the scratches on her and … her fists bawled up,” Shakima Birch said. “It just made me cry, and I’m like, ‘Was she trying to grab onto something?’ or ‘Was she fighting for her life?’”
Authorities say that the investigation remains active.
