A Florida mother was gunned down in the backseat of an Uber following an argument with her friend.
The shocking killing took place on Saturday when 28-year-old Gladys Yvette Borcela was traveling with five other passengers inside a ride-share vehicle after a night of partying in Miami. Prior to the group piling into the 2020 Cadillac Escalade, 24-year-old Natalia Harrell was reportedly annoyed with Borcela for being too intoxicated. Once inside the SUV, the women got into a verbal altercation.
“You don’t want this; you don’t want me to go in my purse,” Harrell allegedly told the victim before retrieving a handgun. Harrell then moved to the front seat of the Escalade and fired a single shot at Borcela, who was in the third row of the vehicle. A dash cam inside the Uber captured the entire ordeal. The driver immediately stopped it on the median in front of 96 SE 1st Street. Everyone exited the vehicle except for Borcela.
Borcela was pronounced dead shortly after at a local hospital from a gunshot wound to the torso.
Harrell was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder. A GoFundMe for Borcela stated that she was a devoted mother who “put her three beautiful children first.” As of Thursday morning, the GoFundMe raised over $4,000.
