One Florida teen is dead after friends got together and took turns shooting each other with body armor on.
On April 3, 15-year-old Christopher Leroy Broad was rushed to the hospital after he and his friends were reportedly playing with guns and body armor equipment. CBS News reports during that evening, Broad and 17-year-old Joshua Vining took turns shooting one another “while wearing a vest which contained a form of body armor,” according to a news release from the Belleview Police Department.
Police say detectives “discovered evidence to prove that Vining shot and killed Broad.” They added that “Vining shot at Broad while he was wearing the vest, and he was struck.” Police took Vining into custody Thursday, and he was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm. On April 8, Broad – who has been charged as an adult, posted a $30,000 bond.
Another teen, 16, who witnessed the incident has also been charged as an adult for providing false information to law enforcement after he initially lied to police about the details of the incident.
