A Florida woman has been accused of raping her autistic brother-in-law over a decade and giving birth to his child.
Amanda Rose Brooks, 36, was arrested on Dec. 7 by US Marshals in Orlando and charged with sexual battery and making a sale report to authorities that she had been the victim of sexual assault in the Lower Keys, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported.
In June 2022, Brooks contacted the Sheriff’s Office, claiming she had been sexually assaulted by her husband and his brother, the arrest report says.
She provided authorities a list of times and dates of the alleged assaults. Brooks also gave them screenshots of messages with friends that depicted her as the victim of abuse and claimed that she had been harassed by her husband’s family for having left with her children, PEOPLE reported.
Brooks said that she and her husband had been her brother-in-law’s sole caretakers.
A month later, the victim’s mother reached out to the Sheriff’s Office and said that Brooks had been assaulting her autistic son for over ten years, according to the report.
The victim told his mother that Brooks had come to his room on multiple occasions and initiated sex despite his protests, telling him to “be quiet,” “not to tell anyone,” and that the assault “was OK because it made her feel good,” the report continues.
Florida learned through DNA testing that Brooks’s last child was the victim’s child.
She has been charged with sexual battery, making a false report about a crime, and giving false information about a felony, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Brooks is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
