Despite defending Donald Trump’s “grab ‘em by the p*ssy” comments in September of 2016, visiting the Celebrity-in-Chief in November of the same year, and of course, attending his inauguration in January 2017, Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he’s not as close to the Donald as some may think.
On Wednesday, Mayweather set the record straight about his relationship with Trump. TMZ caught the legendary boxer out in Beverly Hills and stopped him to inquire about his friend’s position on the national anthem.
“Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up! Friends is a strong word,” he said, as he proceeded to point out a few members of his entourage that he considers real friends. But, the cameraman for the publication refused to back down. Instead, he altered his question and referred to Trump as someone Mayweather knows.

But again, the retired boxer cleared things up and refused to take part in the conversation about the national anthem.

“I know a lot of people. I knew Barack Obama. I know Donald Trump. I know a lot of people,” he said, adding, “I don’t want my name in no bullshit. I’m out of it.”
