Video footage showcasing the shooting of 22-year-old Stephon Clark has been released to the public. The fatal scene was caught on the body cameras of the two officers involved, as well as a police helicopter.
The video begins with very dark footage of what appears to be police chasing Clark along the side of a house with their weapons drawn, though Clark cannot be seen in the video at the time.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Upon turning the corner into the backyard, officers can be heard yelling, “show me your hands” and then instantly an officer can be heard yelling “gun, gun, gun,” before several shots are fired. Clark was reportedly shot a total of 20 times, though this has not been confirmed by authorities.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Police say the officers feared for their lives. A white cell phone was found at the scene. No gun has been uncovered.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As responding officers arrive to the scene, one officer asks, “what do we got on him?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An officer responds, “Like this, something in his hands. It looked like a gun from our perspective.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Commands for Clarke can be heard from a variety of voices. One officer yells out “we need to know if you’re okay. We can’t get you help until we know that you don’t have your weapon.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No response can be heard from Clark at any point. 14 minutes into the video, after handcuffing an unresponsive Clark, officers can be seen performing CPR. Soon after, the word “mute” can be heard before the sound of the video goes out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An ongoing investigation is underway and the two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave.
