Ramsey BethAnn Bearse, former Miss Kentucky, was sentenced to two years in prison on Tuesday after admitting to exchanging sexual pictures with a 15-year-old boy — her former student.
The former West Virginia School teacher was arrested back in December of 2018 after the victims’ parents found the photos in their son’s phones.
Bearse claimed that the initial picture was for her husband, but she accidentally sent the photo to the victim via Snapchat. When he asked for more, she was “afraid to not appease” him, so she continued. But the question still remains, why did you have the boy on your Snapchat, to begin with?
In December of 2019, Bearse pleaded guilty to one count of possessing material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct. She was initially charged with four counts of sending sexual content to a minor.
“Since I am the adult, and he was just a teenage, it is my fault,” she said. “I accept full blame for the situation. So that’s how I’m guilty of this crime. I messed up big time.”
In addition to her two-year sentence, Bearse will be on 10-years of supervised release. She will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
On Monday, July 20, she must report to the Lakin Correctional Center and Jail by 10 a.m., CBS News reports.
