Former NBA player Ben Gordon was recently arrested on weapon and threatening charges.
On Tuesday, authorities were called to a Connecticut juice shop to diffuse “a male acting aggressively and in a bizarre manner.” Once police arrived, assistant police chief Richard Conklin says Gordon persisted in behaving erratically.
According to Conklin, the officers managed to restrain Gordon and detain him. During a subsequent search, they discovered a folding knife attached to his pocket, as well as a stun gun and brass knuckles inside his backpack.
Conklin also stated that Gordon faced several charges, such as carrying a hazardous weapon, making second-degree threats, and obstructing an officer, Gordon was taken to the police detention center and subsequently to a hospital for a mental health assessment. Later that night, he was released on a $10,000 bond.
This isn’t the first time Gordon was involved in legal trouble. In October 2022, Gordon faced charges for assaulting his son at LaGuardia Airport in New York. A few months later, he was charged with a misdemeanor in Chicago for purportedly punching a security guard at a McDonald’s.
Gordon began his professional basketball career after he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2004. H went on to play 11 seasons with Chicago, Detroit, and Charlotte. Gordan ended his career with the Orlando Magic during the 2014-15 season.
