Former Milwaukee Bucks star Eric Bledsoe is in jeopardy of losing his new basketball deal in China after being arrested hours after the contract was signed.
On Wednesday, police responded to a Lost Hills, California home shortly after 11:00 p.m., where Bledsoe’s girlfriend was present, claiming the 32-year-old struck her in the face. Bledsoe was taken into custody after the woman accused him of slapping her. In a now-deleted Instagram post, the woman shared a photo showing a red mark on her face and slammed the baller for causing the bruises. She also accused him of hitting her several times before she came forward.
“No relationship like this is ever worth staying in,” the woman wrote before referring to her lover as a “monster.”
Bledsoe was booked on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. He bonded out shortly after.
The disturbing incident occurred the same day news broke of his signing with the Shanghai Sharks. His new deal would have continued his pro basketball career after entering free agency this year. At the start of last season, Bledsoe played for the Los Angeles Clippers. He was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in February but never got to play with his new team due to an Achilles injury.
His future with the Shanghai Sharks is now up in the air. The team has not spoken out about Bledsoe’s arrest.
