Former NBA Star Amar’e Stoudemire Arrested On Battery Charge For Allegedly Punching His Daughter

Former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested on a domestic violence charge at his Miami condo on Saturday night. 

Stoudemire, 40, was charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching one of his teenage daughters in the face. His bond was set at $1,500.

According to the arrest report, Stoudemire’s ex-wife, Alexis, went to the home after receiving a “plea for help” from her daughter. She told police that her ex-husband asked her to pick up her daughter for being “disrespectful” and “giving attitude” to her grandmother.  

“I observed blood stains on the victim’s sweater and sweatpants,” the arrest report reads, according to the Miami Herald. “The mother of the victim showed me the photo she received from her daughter, which shows the victim crying and blood running down her face.”

Stoudemire told police that the child called her mother and asked to be picked up “because she received a whooping” for being “disrespectful” and lying. After making that statement, the former hoopster exercised his right to remain silent.

The arrest report did not say which of his daughters Stoudemire struck. He shares a 14-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl with Alexis, along with two boys.

The arrest came just hours after the former Knicks and Suns star graduated with an MBA from the University of Miami.

The Phoenix Suns drafted the Stoudemire out of high school in 2002. The former ball player was named Rookie of the Year for the 2002-03 season. He signed with the New York Knicks as a free agent in 2010, where he played for four-plus years. Stoudemire played for the Miami Heat in his last NBA season and continued to play ball overseas.
