Former NBA star Joe Johnson is begging a judge to lower his child support payments, since he’s making a lot less than he was as an NBA baller.
According to The Blast, Johnson recently filed new court docs against Shannon Becton, the mother of his 12-year-old son, in an attempt to decrease his monthly child support payments.
In the docs obtained by the publication, Johnson said he’d been embroiled in a child custody and support battle with his baby mama for years. And although the two originally agreed to $6,250 a month in support, which covered Becton’s rent and other bills, he says he can no longer afford that payment.
According to Johnson, there’s been a “substantial change” in his financial status, adding that, “specifically, [the] father’s income has significantly decreased” from the $2 million he was pulling in from the NBA. So, he’s requesting a decrease. However, Becton has yet to respond.
