In a recent social media outburst, former NBA champion Stephen Jackson expressed his dissatisfaction with CBS Morning’s co-host Gayle King following her interview with Dawn Staley, the coach of South Carolina’s women’s basketball team. Jackson criticized King’s approach during the interview, which took place after Staley’s team defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes, led by Caitlin Clark, to clinch the 2024 NCAA women’s title.
Jackson took to Instagram to voice his discontent, labeling King’s comments during the interview as “trash.” He was particularly upset by King’s admission of rooting for Iowa and Clark, viewing it as disrespectful to Staley and her team’s accomplishments. He argued that King’s remarks were not only inappropriate but also demeaning, accusing her of undermining the significance of South Carolina’s victory.
Highlighting his disappointment, Jackson questioned King’s integrity as a journalist, mentioning her close ties to Oprah Winfrey and suggesting that her professional credibility is often overlooked due to her celebrity connections. He emphasized that such comments should have no place in journalism, especially when addressing a coach who had just achieved a significant professional milestone.
