A female hitchhiker is accusing former NFL player Kellen WinslowJr of raping her after he picked her up.
On Tuesday, the alleged victim testified in court that back in March 2018, Winslow picked her up, took her to a shopping center parking lot, and raped her. The woman, who is being identified as Jane Doe, says she did not resist or try to escape because Winslow threatened to kill her. “He threatened to kill me, and I really believed that he would have,” she testified.
Doe, 55, is the first of five women that are expected to come forward with assault allegations. Winslow’s attorney says the two had consensual sex and suggested the woman had a drinking problem.
Winslow’s legal team claims the alleged victim changed her story multiple times about being sober for 30 years, and also mentioned that she had been arrested 11 times for public intoxication. When Winslow’s attorney referred to a report that showed the woman was arrested for public intoxication as recently as January, she responded that she was on cough medicine and was sober for 30 years.
The woman gave her side of the incident after DNA expert testified that traces of Winslow’s sperm were found on a pair of pants the woman presented to the police. She refused to undergo a physical examination at that time. The woman says terror is what made her make the choices she did in the incident. She didn’t call the police until four days later. “I was terrified,” she said.
The second allegation against Winslow involves a 59-year-old homeless woman who claims the ball player sodomized her a year ago. Following that incident, another woman said she was sexually assaulted by Winslow back in 2003 when she was 17.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The former football star has pleaded not guilty to 12 counts. The case is ongoing.
