Former NFL running back Cedric Benson, 36, was killed in a motorcycle crash late Saturday night in Austin, Texas.
Benson who played for the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, and Green Bay Packers before retiring in 2012, was a superstar at the University of Texas from 2001-2004.
According to TMZ, he was reportedly driving his bike with a passenger when they collided with a minivan around 10:00 last night.
The passenger who has not yet been publicly identified was also killed in the crash and two other adults were injured. Police would only say that everyone in the minivan was okay.
Cops say the minivan caught fire, which was a factor of the crash along with a combination of speed and poor visibility. The passengers in the minivan stayed on the scene to work with investigators. The driver of the minivan will most likely not face any criminal charges.
Hours before the crash, Benson posted a photo of his beloved motorcycle with the caption, “My Saturday Evening.”
The story is developing.
