During ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, the legendary wide receiver appeared on air wearing glasses to disclose that he was battling an illness. However, he didn’t go into detail about the sickness.
“I just wanted to let the viewers know that me and my wife and my family, we are battling something internally,” Moss began. “I have some great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show. I wanted to be here with you guys. I feel great. But if you see me with these ‘Michigan turnover glasses’ that I have on, it’s not being disrespectful because I’m on television. I’m battling something.”
Despite not discussing specifics about the illness, Moss’s message resonated with many, as he expressed gratitude for the prayers he had received.
“I need all the prayer warriors. God bless you all. Thanks for the prayers,” he added.
Additionally, Moss took his advocacy a step further, urging men to stay informed about their health. In an Instagram video, the 47-year-old highlighted the importance of having regular checkups and routine screenings.
The support Moss got from making the revelation was evident, especially with his ESPN co-hosts standing behind him. Mike Greenberg, Rex Ryan, Alex Smith, and Tedy Bruschi all rallied behind Moss, with Greenberg stating, “It’s beautifully said. All for one and one for all. If he’s wearing glasses, we’re all wearing glasses today.”
