Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani Says He’s Saved More Black Lives Than Beyoncé

Former New York Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, definitely seems to get a kick out of chiming in on subjects pertaining to African Americans. Now, the politician is back at it again.

Giuliani took particular issue with Beyonce’s performance Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards. “It’s a shame,” the notable Donald Trump supporter stated on Fox News. According to Giuliani, the performance was offensive and “anti-police.” Sunday’s performance featured a notable aspect where a man in a black hoodie seemingly acted as an angel, which many took as a reference to the late Trayvon Martin, but no direct nod to police departments.

Giuliani did not fail to take the chance to pat himself on the back, in reference to what he has done for black people. In fact Giuliani took the moment to proclaim that he’s “saved more black lives” than the “Formation” singer.

“I ran the largest and best police department in the world, the New York City Police Department,” he said. “I saved more black lives than any of those people you saw on stage by reducing crime, and particularly homicide, by 75 percent,” Giuliani stated before explaining how a large number of black kids in NYC wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for him.

The 72-year old rounded things out by criticizing black celebrities for not properly addressing black issues. “You also should symbolize why the police officers are in those neighborhoods,” he said. “What are you going to do about that?”

What do you think? Is Giuliani a black savior?
