Former Redskins CB Fred Smoot Found Not Guilty of Domestic Assault

Back in November we posted about a woman named Valerie Jackson who was dating former Washington Redskins player Fred Smoot. One day, after finding two open packs of condoms in his car, Jackson said things got violent with Smoot kicked down her door and assaulted her leaving cuts and bruises on her neck, arms, shoulders and inner lip. Smoot said he has never hit a woman in his life and because the judge felt it was a matter of “he say, she say” he found Smoot ‘not guilty’.

Smoot says that Valerie is a disgruntled ex-girlfriend, whom he tried to break it off with a month later. He also says Valerie was the aggressor. Though Valerie provided photo evidence, the judge didn’t feel that was enough. 

Smoot says he looks forward to returning to work after being suspended indefinitely from his job as a contributor to Comcast SportsNet amidst the allegations.
