Do y’all remember Kamala Harris’s interview with Charlamagne Tha God? Well, her former senior advisor has come forward to address the moment.
Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. In 2021, Harris virtually joined Charlamagne’s Comedy Central show, “The God Honest Truth,” to discuss some political matters. At one point, the Vice President of the United States and “The Breakfast Club” host had a heated exchange after he asked her who the real president of the country was, her or President Joe Biden.
Harris quickly responded, “It’s Joe Biden. And don’t start talking like a Republican about asking whether or not he’s president. It’s Joe Biden, and I’m vice president, and my name is Kamala Harris.”

Moments later, her senior advisor at the time, Symone Sanders-Townsend, stepped into the camera to wrap up the interview, which some people believed was an effort to deflect from the topic at hand. However, Symone is now addressing the interview to explain what really happened.
Symone recently sat down with the “Work Friends: The Podcast” to detail an unhinged work moment. As she began to speak, Symone hinted at a time when she was working for Harris and had set up an interview with “someone who hosted a popular radio show but had a show at Comedy Central at the time.” According to Symone, the interview was supposed to only be 7-10 minutes long but went on too long due to Charlamagne’s team ignoring her request to wrap up.
“Seven minutes goes by, I give my signal like ‘oh we need to wrap,’” she says. “Ten minutes goes by, I’m still like ‘okay, we need to wrap…7-10, I really need you to wrap.’ I’m in the text messages with the producers and the talent, I’m like ‘we really need to wrap.’ Fifteen minutes now goes by. Twenty minutes now goes by. At this point, you have the Vice President of America sitting in a 7-10 minute interview for 20 minutes and y’all are actively disrespecting my wrap.”

Symone explained how she quickly decided to do something to end the interview, leading to her stepping in front of Harris to abruptly shut it down.
“Twenty-five minutes had gone by,” Symone continued. “And at that point, I had to make a decision. It’s either gonna be them or me and I chose myself. You wanna ignore my wraps, when there was a pause in the conversation. She answered her question and stopped. I said, ‘hey, hey, hey, excuse me, it’s Symone.’ Cause I’m off to the side so now I’m yelling. I see them continue to try and ask her another question, so I put my body in front of the camera, in front of the Vice President of the United States.”
Symone ended the conversation saying that Charlamagne’s team claimed she was trying to get Harris out of answering difficult questions. But Harris quickly stepped in and said, “Oh I can answer the question, I heard you,” and went on to respond to two more questions before the interview ended.
Nevertheless, Symone says Harris wasn’t upset or bothered by how she chose to wrap up the interview and even asked her, “So what’s next?” Symone says she had to make a decision and couldn’t “let that lady be out there for 30 d*mn minutes.”
