Elsewhere in white privilege news, a 40-year-old former tech company CEO in Utah was sentenced to a mear 210 days in jail and slapped with a warning after he was caught with over 13,000 images of child rape and bestiality.
According to Utah news station, KUTV, authorities raided the home of Doug Saltsman after initially being tipped off by an internet provider address that was sharing child pornography using a peer-to-peer file-sharing program.
Saltsman, former CEO of Saltmine, a now-defunct cryptocurrency company, originally faced 11 charges after law enforcement seized the sickening files during the raid of his home in Sandy, Utah, on May 7th, 2019. The first file that authorities pulled from the home was a shocking compilation video of girls under the age of 8 being raped, court documents detailed. Other footage showed Saltsman having sexual intercourse with a woman who appeared unconscious. The woman in the footage is reportedly Saltsman’s ex-girlfriend, who declined to press charges.
Saltsman faced up to 15 years in prison on convictions for three felonies relating to the seizure. However, after expressing his remorse, Judge Douglas Hogan sentenced him only 210 days and 48 months of probation last month. Considering that Saltsman already accumulated time served, it is likely that he will serve only two months.
“If there are new offenses or if it looks like you are not trying, do not expect the court to be merciful when you come back, and it looks like you’re not trying,” the judge warned.
The man claimed that he had a problem during a virtual hearing and said that he was enrolled in therapy. He also revealed that he had sought help from a psychiatrist, who put him on medication.
“I want to be able to repair the damage that I’ve done, that I see what I’ve done. I want to be able to see myself in the mirror and I am sorry,’ he told the virtual court.”
