In December, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow‘s house was burglarized, adding him to the growing list of NFL players whose homes have been targeted while they played in nationally televised games. According to court documents, four Chilean nationals were arrested on January 10 in connection with the theft.
Authorities revealed that the four individuals, who were still legally in the U.S. at the time of their arrest, had an LSU T-shirt and a Cincinnati Bengals ball cap in their possession. The suspects—identified as Alexander Chavez, Bastian Morales, Jordan Sanchez, and Sergio Cabello—are now facing four felony charges. These include being gang-affiliated, obstructing official business, and possession of criminal tools.
The men were found with automatic center punch tools, which authorities have linked to a South American theft group involved in an “ongoing investigation involving burglaries of multi-million dollar homes in multiple states,” as stated in court documents.
The court documents also revealed that the suspects are in the U.S. illegally. After serving their time, they are expected to be deported to their respective countries.
Phone records further showed that two of the suspects were in the vicinity of Burrow’s home on the night of the burglary. The same crime ring is allegedly connected to the October burglaries of Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, who were also targeted while playing in high-profile games.
