Following its successful show ‘The Masked Singer,’ Fox has announced a spin-off to the series entitled ‘The Masked Dancer.’
DeGeneres came up with the masked dancer segment on her hit talk-show and caught the eyes of those in charge at Fox Network.
Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials for Fox Entertainment, spoke on the network’s upcoming partnership with DeGeneres in a statement saying, “We’re still blown away by ‘The Masked Singer’s’ massive impact on pop culture, but when Ellen debuted her own inventive segment, ‘The Masked Dancer’ on her show, we were truly amazed. We are thrilled to partner with Ellen on this new format and take ‘The Masked Singer’ to a whole new creative level.”
While at this time no premiere date has been announced for the upcoming series, Fox has revealed the show‘s Celebrity panelists will include Howie Mandel (America’s Got Talent), Sean Hayes (Will & Grace), Derek Hough (Dancing With The Stars) and Ken Jeong (The Masked Singer).
Similar to ‘The Masked Singer,’ the new show will showcase celebrities in disguise; however, instead of using their voice to help reveal their identity, they will instead do “unique dances,” according to a press release from Fox.
“This is gonna be just as fun and suspenseful as ‘The Masked Singer,’ but with a lot more krumping,” DeGeneres said. “And I cannot wait!”
Until ‘The Masked Dancer’ is released, fans can still tune into ‘The Masked Singer.’ Season 3 of Fox’s hit series airs on Feb. 2, following the Super Bowl, with Jamie Fox as a guest judge.
‘Singer’ will return to its original air time at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, according to the New York Post.
