On Monday, Fox News claimed that they “mistakenly” cropped Donald Trump out of a photograph featuring his former friend and known sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
“On Sunday, July 5, a report on Ghislaine Maxwell during Fox News Channel’s ‘America’s News HQ’ mistakenly eliminated President Donald Trump from a photo alongside then Melania Knauss, Jeffrey Epstein, and Maxwell,” a spokesperson for the network said before adding, “We regret the error.”
The statement was an attempt to clean up what many viewed as Trump trying to distance himself from the duo who sexually abused underage girls for years.
On Thursday, Maxwell was formally charged by federal prosecutors in New York for her role in helping to recruit and sexually abuse the underage girls. The altered photograph aired during a segment regarding Maxwell’s charges.
Recently Trump allies have continuously shared photos of former Democratic President Bill Clinton and his wife Hilary alongside Epstein while diminishing Trump’s friendship with the child rapist. Clinton’s camp has vehemently denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
In 2019, a spokesperson for Clinton said that the former President knew “nothing about the terrible crimes” that the convicted pedophile committed over the years.
Trump has also denied knowing of any wrongdoing regarding Epstein.
