One of Fox Soul’s most promising shows, “TEA-G-I-F,” has officially been canceled, and there appear to be multiple reasons why.
The talk show got off to a rocky start in 2024 when host Quentin Latham, popularly known as Funky Dineva, announced in January that he would be exiting the show. The famed YouTube cultural commentator cited pay conflicts but refrained from bad-mouthing his co-hosts, Claudia Jordan and Al Reynolds. Social media influencer and YouTuber Armon Wiggins was revealed as a permanent correspondent on “TEA-G-I-F” in May 2024. Initially, he seemed to be a good fit, mainly due to his pop culture knowledge and following. However, things appeared to have soured after the infamous Reynolds birthday episode.
During the June show, Wiggins roasted Reynolds, even taking shots at his performance on the show and suggesting he was sabotaging it.
“As if that wasn’t enough, Al is currently on a mission to get our talk show canceled. His nasty, childish, slightly jealous attitude is working overtime to torpedo our show,” Wiggins joked.
Though Reynolds appeared to take the digs well, rumors began to brew that there was tension stemming from what was supposed to be a fun occasion. In late June, news came that the show was on a pre-scheduled hiatus, prompting many to believe it was canceled. All three hosts denied this, though Jordan’s sit-down with Carlos King confirmed that things had gotten rocky. The former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star cited several reasons for the fallout, including alleged side conversations, primarily rooted in he-say, she-say. Sadly, in early July, it was revealed that the series was scrapped for good.
Wiggins and Jordan both suggested that Reynolds wanted the show to end. Reynolds, for his part, has remained mostly quiet on the matter aside from his announcement about “TEA-G-I-F.” Although Jordan has expressed interest in creating more productions for Fox Soul, the behind-the-scenes drama may prevent the talk show from ever returning.
