There’s probably nothing worse than having your privacy invaded. Fox sideline reporter, Erin Andrews, knows that feeling all too well. Back in 2008 Andrews was staying at a Marriott hotel in Tennessee and was secretly videotaped while nude by a stalker through her peephole. The footage went viral and in 2011, Andrews filed a lawsuit in Nashville Circuit Court against her stalker, Marriott and other defendants.
Michael David Barrett plead guilty to stalking Andrews and was sentenced to 30 months in prison. Andrews blames Marriott ultimately because it was their employees who told Barrett that she was staying at the hotel. Not only that, they also gave him her room number and put him in a room right next door to hers.
Since then, Andrews has been ordered to come up with a specific damages amount. The amount she finally agreed on is $75 million. If you ask me, she deserves it. Who willingly gives up your personal information then places someone in the room right next to yours? I’d love to hear the excuse that employee came up with.
The trial is set for late February and expected to last about 10 days.
