Thierry Mugler, who is widely known as an iconic French fashion designer, has died.
On Mugler’s official page, an Instagram was posted on Sunday confirming the tragic news. It included a photo of nothing but a blank square, with a caption that read, “#RIP We are devastated to announce the passing of Mr. Manfred Thierry Mugler on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
The same message was then repeated in French.
There are no details released saying the cause of his death, but it does seem like he passed suddenly and unexpectedly, TMZ reported.
Tributes started to pour almost instantly for the well-known designer, especially from those in the fashion world, who also knew Mugler from his decades-long work and influence within the industry.
Mugler has dressed some of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood, including Kim Kardashian, whom he dressed for the 2019 Met Gala.
His designs have been fan-faves, including Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Jerry Hall, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna, David Bowie, George Michael, Linda Evangelista, Demi Moore, Megan Fox, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Robin Wright, Bella Hadid and a slew of others.
His work has touched three different decades of fashion, if not more. And he was loved by many.
Mugler also left his mark in the fragrance biz industry with his contribution of a diverse line of perfumes that are still considered bestsellers to this day.
