French’s announced they’re releasing a mustard donut for National Mustard Day.
French’s found a unique way to celebrate the condiment holiday, which is observed on August 6. The company is partnering with artisanal donut maker, Dough Doughnuts, to create the mustard-infused treat.
“We’ve been known to go big for National Mustard Day with Mustard Ice Cream in 2019. Mustard Beer in 2020, and Mustard Buns in 2021. This year, we’re excited to collaborate with Dough and introduce French’s Mustard Donuts, adding our Classic Yellow Mustard to morning routines,” Jill Pratt, chief marketing officer at McCormick says.
According to Yahoo, the limited-edition treat is a “reimagined classic glazed donut with a sweet and savory yellow mustard coating that’s topped with a mustard cake crumble.”
The treats will be available beginning August 6 at Dough’s locations in New York City. Consumers will be able to purchase the donuts nationwide online while supplies last.
French’s reveal comes shortly after a mustard shortage was announced. Canada, a major supplier of mustard seeds, produced less seeds than anticipated in 2021.
According to CBC News, industries are warning that the shortage could lead to higher prices and empty shelves.
