‘Friends’ Reunion Special with Original Cast Coming to HBO Max

HBO Max has announced that the cast of ‘Friends’ will be reuniting for an unscripted special. This comes a few months after the 25th anniversary of their first episode.

Cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, will all be included in the reunion.

The special will be filmed on the show’s original soundstage in the Warner Bros. Studio.

Ben Winston will be directing, and Fulwell 73 and Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television will be producing.

According to Deadline, each of the cast members will be paid $3-$4 million.

The special was created in order to help with the release of the Friends reruns on HBO Max, which cost the company $425 million.

“Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together, we are uniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library,” Kevin Reilly, the chief content officer at HBO Max and president of TBS, TNT and truTV said. “I became aware of Friends when it was in the early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends and audiences gathered in real-time, and we think this reunion special will capture the spirit, uniting original and new fans.”
