A Philadelphia man must live with a disfigured penis likely for the rest of his life after being burned by scalding hot tea on a Frontier Airlines flight.
Sean Miller is now taking legal action against the company, which has allegedly caused him endless suffering. Miller claims a flight attendant handed him a cup of piping hot tea with no lid. The liquid spilled on his groin area, leaving Miller with third-degree burns and “highly unsightly and embarrassing discoloration on his penis, scrotum/testicles” and “significantly decreased sensation in his penis.”
The 56-year-old was rushed to a burn center at Jefferson Medical Hospital when the plane landed, where doctors treated his horrifying injuries. In his lawsuit documents, he says the situation has left him with long-term physical damage, nerve damage, and a herniated disc from squirming in “agony” in the cramped plane seat.
The filing also states Miller has been dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, emotional harm, and embarrassment. The medical situation has forced him to take time off work, leading to financial losses and significant hospital expenses. Miller is seeking $150,000 in damages for the life-changing ordeal.
This is only the most recent lawsuit that Frontier has faced in recent months. In October, three passengers sued the airlines, claiming their flight from San Diego to Las Vegas “crash landed” at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport. The impact was allegedly “so strong that it caused the aircraft’s tires to explode and its landing gear to collapse, resulting in the aircraft catching fire.” The passengers are claiming they suffered emotional and mental anguish from the terrifying moment and are seeking $30,000 a piece.
