Remember These? Fruit Stripe Chewing Gum Is Being Discontinued After Five Decades

After over 50 years, the iconic and vibrantly colored Fruit Stripe Gum is being discontinued.

According to a report from Food and Wine magazine, Ferrara Candy, the gum manufacturer, announced this week that it will be discontinuing the product. The company emphasized that the decision was not made “lightly” and highlighted that they carefully considered various factors before arriving at this conclusion.

“We have made the difficult decision to sunset Fruit Stripe Gum, but consumers may still be able to find the product at select retailers nationwide,” a spokesperson said. “The decision to sunset this product was not taken lightly, and we considered many factors before coming to this decision, including consumer preferences, and purchasing patterns.”

As reported by CNN, Fruit Stripe Gum, with a history dating back to the 1960s, featured five flavors: Wet n’ Wild Melon, Cherry, Lemon, Orange, and Peach. Yipes the Zebra served as the brand’s mascot, and each pack included a temporary tattoo of Yipes. Ferrara informed the outlet that fans of the gum might still locate it at certain retailers nationwide, albeit in limited availability before it is completely sold out.
