Georgia is preparing to move ahead with another ballot audit, this time in the most populous county after a judge ruled Friday that absentee ballots could be unsealed for parties looking to examine them for evidence of fraud.
According to CNN, the review will consist of Fulton County’s absentee ballots. But it is not set to begin until the judge reviews the terms of the audit. This latest review comes as conservatives have pushed for election audits in several states in the wake of Donald Trump’s election loss last November. The baseless belief that the 2020 Presidential election was overrun with fraud has persisted among some Republicans, despite the lack of evidence.
This latest review in the Fulton County case paves the way for yet another ballot audit, but it will not lead to Georgia’s election results being overturned, no matter the outcome as President Joe Biden has already been certified.
