What can only be described as the biggest comeback in history, Billy McFarland has announced that the second edition of his Fyre Festival is expected to take place next year. Despite the infamous first Fyre Festival being a complete disaster that left attendees stranded in the Bahamas, McFarland has high hopes for an improved event with help from 50 Cent.
McFarland spent time in prison for his involvement in the festival and several schemes he pulled off to make it happen. However, while discussing the event with TMZ, McFarland promised the festival would live up to its lavish expectations that were anticipated from the first installment. Although specific details are currently unknown, McFarland shared that the festival will take place on April 25th in Mexico and already secured 3,000 registration sign-ups.
But what stood out the most about McFarland’s comments was the entertainment lineup. McFarland had previously snagged Ja Rule for the first festival. However, he is now looking into replacing his former festival partner with 50 Cent, who McFarland wants to headline.
“We gotta give 50 the spot so he can do what Ja Rule never could,” he told TMZ recently.
Now, if you’re familiar with rap beef, you’ll know that Ja Rule and 50 Cent have been at odds with each other for a long time. The idea of 50 Cent getting involved with the festival can stir up some buzz and lead to the show making headlines.
Ja Rule was heavily entangled in the inaugural Fyre and distanced himself from the scandal, claiming McFarland also conned him. This apparently didn’t sit well with McFarland, who has challenged Ja Rule to a boxing match and promised that $350,000 would be donated to unpaid festival employees if the rapper stepped into the ring for 15 minutes.
Nonetheless, Fyre Festival 2 is expected to offer more than live music, as McFarland has been advertising scuba diving and other luxury experiences. Whether these promises actually come to life is another story. We’ll have to wait and see.
