You gave him your attention and your focus. You answered phone calls and replied to texts in a timely manner. You gave him clear signs you were interested. You even briefly deactivated your Tinder account for this man. He was attentive and seemed to be interested as well, but he never made the move to take things to the next level. Eventually, things fizzled out amicably and although the situation had potential, it was never that serious.
You easily picked up where you left off before he entered the picture and began swiping right again on a new batch of potentials. Time goes by, you’ve met someone new, and a peaking interest is developing for this brand new beau. You’re out and about with said new beau and you happen to see ‘old flame’ in the very same place. You acknowledge old flame with a smile and wave since things did end in a cordial manner and respectfully turn your attention back to new beau. You think nothing major of the encounter and continue enjoying your night. To you, it may have been a simple hello-goodbye, but to old flame, this is not just a random run-in. This is game on.
So here he comes, full steam ahead, with fire blazing stronger than ever before. All of a sudden he’s ready and willing, giving that extra effort that would have elevated things the first time. Calls and texts galore, date night options and all. But alas, it’s too little, too late. You moved on and the feelings of potential are no longer there. You gave him the chance to shoot his best shot and but he didn’t want to play. Now, the game has ended. Hell, the whole season is over. You’re the exact same person you were 6 months ago – nothing has changed except for the man sitting next to you. Why does he find you so irresistibly appealing now?
Girl, I wish I knew. But that is something only those with a Y-chromosome can answer.
So men, what’s good?! What makes you all of a sudden want to step up to the plate when you see her with that new-new? Now, I know men are competitive by nature so do you truly want her? …Or do you just want her back to win the game you weren’t originally motivated to play?
