After negotiating salary changes with network execs, Gayle King has allegedly secured a new $11 million-a-year deal with CBS.
Prior to the negotiation, Page Six reported that King receives $5 million a year as a host and with the new agreement, she has secured more than doubled her original salary.
Big changes come with the close of her deal with the network. King will continue her reign on “CBS This Morning,” while her co-host Norah O’Donnell has been reassigned to replace Jeff Glor on “CBS Evening News.”
Rumors circulated this week, stating that King demanded that she no longer share the spotlight with O’Donnell. However, Susan Zirinsky, president of CBS News has denied all allegations that King played a part in the removal of O’Donnell.
While King has made it clear that she won’t be addressing her contract with the media any time soon, her bestie, Oprah Winfrey encouraged her to fight for what she thinks she deserves.
“I said, ‘Get what you want. Get exactly what you want, because now’s the time. And if you don’t get what you want, then make the next right move,’ ” Winfrey told The Hollywood Reporter.
