The New York Police Department is investigating the vandalism of George Floyd’s Union Square statue.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that nearby security cameras captured the vandalism Sunday morning.
A male was seen mixing something behind the John Lewis statue before hopping on a skateboard and cruising past the Floyd statue to throw whatever mixture he had on it.
He then fled.
Apparently, there were eyewitnesses at the location, but they did not intervene.
The statue was unveiled less than 48 hours before the crime happened.
The Union Square statue of Floyd is one of 3 placed there– including Breonna Taylor and John Lewis — it was smeared with what appears to be grey paint.
Authorities aren’t sure who did it.
