Kim Kardashian‘s campaign to free C-Murder, who is serving a life sentence for a decades-old shooting, is facing backlash after actively advocating for his release.
Earlier this week, the alleged victim’s brother, George Thomas, questioned Kardashian’s belief in C-Murder’s innocence during an appearance on Boss Talk 101.
Although Thomas has forgiven C-Murder, he remains convinced that the evidence and eyewitness accounts prove his guilt. This is why he takes issue with Kim’s quest to prove the rapper’s innocence.
“It was a slap in the face to the family,” he said. “It’s a high-profile case, so you jumped on a case without reading all of the facts.”
He added: “Had you done the research, you would say: ‘Hey, I’m not getting in this case.’ And then my family can’t properly mourn because every year — whether it’s BET, whether it’s something on YouTube, where there’s something else coming forward — it’s like it’s always he’s innocent, he was railroaded.”
In early August, the SKIMS founder revealed on Twitter that the two individuals compelled to provide testimony against C-Murder have since retracted their statements. Their reversal means that there is now no direct evidence linking him to the crime.
According to Kim Kardashian, C-Murder could be released from his 20+ year prison sentence due to a new Louisiana law.
