George W. Bush and his wife Laura showed gratitude to his Secret Service detail by hand delivering pizza pies to the agents who are working unpaid due to the current government shutdown.
The former President took to Instagram on Friday to post a picture of his delivery with a message of gratitude, urging politicians to come together and end the shutdown.
In his Instagram caption he shared:
“@LauraWBush and I are grateful to our Secret Service personnel and the thousands of Federal employees who are working hard for our country without a paycheck. And we thank our fellow citizens who are supporting them,” Bush said. “It’s time for leaders on both sides to put politics aside, come together, and end this shutdown.”
800,000 Federal employees (including 6,000 Secret Service agents) have now gone four weeks without pay, due to the government’s closure.
