A Georgia police chief resigned after a video of a racist conversation between him and one of his officers surfaced earlier this week. During the shocking discussion, they both casually drop the n-word and say that slavery met black people’s needs. The officer speaking with the chief was terminated.
According to TMZ, Hamilton Police Chief Gene Allmond and Officer John Brooks were unaware that Brook’s body camera recorded their interaction. The conversation occurred last year before a June Black Lives Matter protest.
The patrolman talked about who he’d rather have sex with, between Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms or voting rights activist Stacey Abrams and discussed slavery.
“For the most part, it seemed to me like they furnished them a house to live in. They furnished them clothes to put on their back,” Chief Allmond said in the video. “They furnished them food to put on their table, and all they had to do was f***ing work. And now we give ’em all those things and don’t have to f***ing work.”
At the time of the protests, it was believed that the bodycams were not working correctly. When another department went to use the camera, the footage was discovered. Chief Allmond resigned, and Brooks was fired after WTVM TV obtained the footage.
